Experimental project from 14-17 y.o. architectural course. Summer 2021.
This project aimed to simplify the exploration of complex tensile structures and free shaping with teenagers in the @youngarchsociety community. The project consisted of two parts, and this post focuses on the second part which involved creating bionic shapes.
Initially, we used acrylic plaster and balloons to create forms that were shaped using clamps and rope constrictions. This was meant to be a preliminary task that focused solely on form. However, we went on to experiment with painting the sculptures using aquaprint, and digitizing them using photogrammetry by agisoft. Although not all the sculptures survived, the process and results can be viewed in the gallery.
